To create...

Updated: Mar 12, 2019

There was a time when I wrote a blog on a regular basis, updating sometimes two or three times a day! I had recently moved to a new country and everything was exciting and fresh. I recorded the first time I saw a Smart Car, the first time I saw Morris Dancing (that's when I learned about previewing comments) and all the traveling we did across Europe. Then we had kids and, while the traveling and the new experiences didn't stop, free time to update the blog did. My multiple posts a day trickled down to about a blog a year.

I am lucky now to be at a point in my life where I can focus on myself and on the things and the people I love. It hasn't come easily or naturally and it hasn't come without a lot of self-judgement and anxiety about whether the choices I've made to make my life happier are the right ones for our family. Rarely does a day go by when I don't wonder 'what happens if....' But slowly, slowly, I am finding a way to turn the things that enrich my life into things that contribute (very minorly) to our bank account.

And no, it's not all about the money, but we live in London and the truth is that being a stay at home Mom and doing yoga doesn't pay the bills, as enlightening and rewarding as it can be! I'm hoping that this space and the challenge of updating this blog will help to keep me on the path to making some of my long dreamed of plans come true. Watch this space. Watch me create.

These are terrariums made by some of my former students. They all were (and continue to be) incredibly creative people. And they all have learning disabilities. This blog seeks to create more opportunities for young people like them to access life and work skills.
